THE 2ND U.S. SPIRITIST MEDICAL CONGRESS
|
The 2nd U.S. Spiritist Medical Congress, held in October 2008, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was very successful in its purpose of advancing the concepts of an integrative medicine. As in the first congress (held in Rockville, Maryland, in 2006), there were approximately 300 participants. Both events had prestigious speakers, among others Dr. Amit Goswami, Dr. Christina Puchalski, Dr. Dolores Krieger, Dr. Melvin Morse, Dr. Harold Koenig, Dr. Peter Fenwick, as well as renowned Brazilian physicians, all speakers of the highest scientific caliber, presenting their research and materials in support of the main theme of the congress: Bridging Medicine and Spirituality. The talk of Dr. Dolores Krieger, one of the founders of the Therapeutic Touch (TT) was a testimony of the utmost importance in furthering the Spiritist beliefs in the efficacy of TT as a healing approach. TT, as well as passes* practiced by Spiritists, are among several modalities of laying-on of hands. Dr. Krieger very kindly authorized the publication of the written version of her past talk, posted below. This is a sample of the great lectures that the SMA strives to offer at its events, geared towards the establishment of a new paradigm in healthcare that encompasses the concept of treating patients as a whole: body, mind and spirit. |
