Amit GoswamiAmit Goswami, PhD, is a professor of physics (retired) at the University of Oregon, where he has served since 1968. He is a pioneer of the new paradigm of science called science within consciousness an idea he explicated in his seminal book, The Self-Aware Universe where he also solved the quantum measurement problem elucidating the famous observer effect Goswami has written six other popular books based on his research on quantum physics and consciousness. In The Visionary Window, Goswami demonstrated how science and spirituality could be integrated. In Physics of the Soul he developed a theory of survival after death and reincarnation. His book Quantum Creativity is a tour de force instruction about how to engage in both outer and inner creativity. Goswami’s book, The Quantum Doctor integrates conventional and alternative medicine. His latest book, Creative Evolution is a resolution between Darwinism and intelligent design of life. Finally, in his book God is not Dead, Goswami demonstrates science’s re-discovery of God. Gary E. SchwartzGary E. Schwartz, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology, Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Surgery at the University of Arizona and Director of its Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health. He is also Director of Development of Energy Healing at
Canyon Ranch. Gary received his PhD from Harvard in 1971, was an Assistant Professor at Harvard, and was a Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Yale University and director of the Yale Psychophysiology Center before moving to the University of Arizona in1988. He has published more than 450 scientific papers, including six papers in the journal SCIENCE, co-edited 11 academic books, and is the author of The Energy Healing Experiments (2007), The G.O.D. Experiments (2006), The Afterlife Experiments (2002), The Truth about Medium (2005), and The Living Energy Universe (1999). His research integrates mind-body medicine, energy medicine, and spiritual medicine. His new book The Sacred Promise: How Science is Discovering Spirit’s Collaboration with Us in Our Daily Lives will be published in the fall of 2010.
Marlene NobreMarlene Nobre, MD, is a gynecologist with specialization in cancer prevention. She is the president of the International Spiritist Medical Association, and has fostered the foundation of several spiritist associations around the world, including in Colombia, Portugal. Spain, England, and the USA. She has also authored a number of books on the theme Spirituality & Medicine, and other related topics.


João AscensoJoão Ascenso, PsyD, is a Social Psychologist and a Neuroscientist, trained in Lisbon, Portugal, and presently is a research member of Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience Research Unit of the D´OR Network, Rio de Janeiro, and a former Master´s student of Neuroscience in the King´s College, University of London, once he transferred himself to the mentioned lab in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He worked for many years in the Spiritist Movement in Brasília, Brazil, in the Spiritist Movement in Lisbon, Portugal and in the Spiritist Movement in London, UK. Presently, he works in a Spiritist Center called “Seara de Amor e de Luz”, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, founded by Teresinha de Castro and Francisco Cândido Xavier, with the Spiritual Guidance of Emmanuel (Spiritual Guide of Francisco Cândido Xavier), and more recently by Áulus (Spiritual Instructor of Andre Luiz).
Presently, together with Dr. Jorge Moll Neto, he designes fMRI and social psychological experiments, specifically to study the relationships between moral values, moral sentiments, moral motivations and moral behaviors, to be published in social psychology and neuroscience international scientific journals.
Vanessa AnseloniVanessa Anseloni, PsyD, PhD, is a neuroscientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She is fifth generation Spiritist, founder of the Spiritist Society of Baltimore, MD, USA, and the Editor-in-Chief of The Spiritist Magazine. She recently wrote the book The New Generation with the renowned medium, speaker, and humanitarian Divaldo Franco. Dr. Anseloni is also an international speaker.
Sergio Felipe de OliveiraSergio Felipe de Oliveira, M.D. received both the MD and the Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sao Paulo, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is currently the director of the Division of Alternative Medicine and Spirituality at the University of Sao Paulo Medical School, and director of the Pineal-Mind Institute of Health in Sao Paulo City. He is the founder and director of the Project Uniespirito – International University of Sciences of the Spirit.
Julio PeresJulio Peres, PsyD, PhD, is a Clinical Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Behavior from the Institute of Psychology, University of São Paulo. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Spirituality and the Mind, at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Researcher Member of the Program for Health, Spirituality and Religiosity (ProSER) at the Psychiatry Institute, University of São Paulo School of Medicine. Author of the book “Trauma e Superação: o que a Psicologia, a Neurociência e a Espiritualidade Ensinam” (in Portuguese).
Stephan A. SchwartzStephan A. Schwartz is a Research Associate of the Cognitive Sciences Laboratory of the Laboratories for Fundamental Research, and BIAL Fellow. Previously he was founder and Research Director of the Mobius laboratory, and Director of Research of the Rhine Research Center. For 40 years he has been studying the nature of consciousness, particularly that aspect independent of space and time. Schwartz is part of the small group that founded modern Remote Viewing research. Other areas of interest include research into creativity and Therapeutic Intent/Healing. In addition to numerous technical papers and reports on this work he has written four books: The Secret Vaults of Time, The Alexandria Project, Mind Rover and his latest, Opening to the Infinite. His submarine experiment, Deep Quest, using Remote Viewing helped determine that nonlocal awareness is not an electromagnetic phenomenon. He is the columnist for the peer-reviewed journal Explore – The Journal of Science and Healing, and editor of the daily web publication which covers trends that are affecting the future.
Uma KrishnamurthyUma Krishnamurthy, Psy.D. has been exposed to spiritual teachers and yoga philosophy from early childhood. She is a psychiatrist by training from India with many years of experience in the field of healing, yoga psychology, and transformation of emotions that are currently her main areas of interest and research. She is the author of an upcoming book on Yoga Psychology. Dr. Krishnamurthy has been traveling worldwide for the past ten years leading workshops and spiritual retreats on yoga psychology; in particular, she regularly conducts workshops at the Yoga Biomedical Trust in London, at Sivananda Yoga and Vedanta Centers worldwide, and at Krotona Theosophical Society, Ojai, California. Fabio Vilarraga BenavidesFabio Vilarraga Benavides, MD, is a surgeon of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He has a Post-Graduate degree in Management of Health Services (Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano) and in Bioethics (Universidad El Bosque). He is currently an Attending Physician at the Hospital Regional San Rafael de Facatativa, Colombia. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Spiritist Center “Senderos de la Esperanza”; and Director of a program to assist and support pregnant women. Décio Iandoli JúniorDécio Iandoli Júnior, MD, is specialized in digestive surgery and received a Ph.D. degree from UNIFESP-EPM (Brazil) in 1999. Currently occupies the position of Professor of Medicine at UNIDERP, Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil) and is the Vice-President of the Medical Spiritist Association of Mato Grosso do Sul (AME-MS). He is an active spiritist writer and speaker.
Jim B. TuckerJim B. Tucker, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. He is continuing the work of Ian Stevenson at the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies with children who report memories of previous lives and is the author of Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives (St. Martin’s, 2005). A board-certified child psychiatrist, he also serves as medical director of the UVA Child and Family Psychiatry Clinic.
Fabio NasriFabio Nasri, Dr. Fabio Nasri holds a medical degree and an MSc in Clinical Endocrinology from the Federal University of Sao Paulo, and has specialized in Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is the Coordinator of the Gerontology and Geriatrics Program of the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo and a Fellow of the European Academy for the Medicine of Aging (EAMA) in Switzerland.
Maria da Graça de EnderMaria da Graça de Ender, MD, is a general practitioner from Salvador, Bahia (Brasil), settled in Panama, Central America, since December 1973. She practices at a Health Center, in the capital city, for the Panamanian Ministry of Health. Her expertise is in Integrative Medicine and also coordinates Health Programs and gives medical care to local public Elementary and High School students. She is an experienced international spiritualist speaker and expositor (16 countries), who has participated in several Conferences, Seminars, Meetings, interviews for radio and television, as well as programs that run on cable, to divulge the teachings of Spiritism, since 1983. Peter FenwickPeter Fenwick, MD, was for many years Consultant in charge of the neuropsychiatric and epilepsy unit at the Maudsley Hospital. He is at present Co-Director of both research and clinical programs at the Department of Neurophysiology at Broadmoor Hospital, and Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at the London Sleep Centre, running a clinical and forensic neuropsychiatric practice. For the last ten years he has spent several months at the RIKEN Neuroscience Institute in Japan, studying the use of magnetic field tomography in various psychological and motor paradigms. In the UK he had five years research into near death experiences in coronary care units, and surveys of approaching death experiences in hospices and nursing homes in southern England.

Melvin L MorseMelvin L Morse, MD FAAP is a former Critical Care Physician who has studied near death experiences in children for over 20 years.
